Wow, where have the last four months gone? I’m not real sure, but a lot has happened in that time. Hopefully this will serve has a catch up, and we will start keeping you more up-to-date with more frequent updates again.
So, what have we been up to? Well, mostly we’ve been sailing and working on the boat. Early in the year was rather cold, (for Houston anyway) so we mostly stayed nearby and laid low. Though we did have some skiing adventures getting down the ramp onto the dock.
We did get Nymeria out for a day sail or two during the cold, but most of our time on the water was racing on our friends boat for the Cruzan Rum Icicle Series. Its really a great learning experience to really push a boat and get ordered around.
Spring comes pretty early here, so March and April we were able to get quite a bit of sailing and traveling in. We had our first engine failure and had to be towed back into our dock. We took Nymeria on her first destination sail, 30 miles to Mood Gardens on Galveston Island. A five hour sail navigating the busy Houston Ship channel and one of the busiest shipping channel intersections in the world. We also spent a weekend in New Orleans with friends for a proper vacation!
We’ve made many new friends in our time here as well. due to the nature of the cruising life, some have already taken off and begun their sailing adventures, further bolstering out plans to eventually untie our lines and start our next adventures!
Mostly I just want to say we are still here, and I know this is just a short little tease, but I hope to have much more detailed and exciting posts about all the adventures teased above, and the many more to come written and posted in the coming weeks!
