Boat Work

I guess Summer is over now.

First, we need to apologize for not updating everyone to exactly what is going on.  We did many things over the summer, some very fun, others not so fun. If you look at our position now, compared to the beginning of the summer… well, were in exactly the same place.  We unfortunately ran into some engine troubles early in the summer, and we are still working through those before we can sail again. Not sailing the boat has really bummed us out lately, so its pretty hard to get motivated to write about it. The good news is, parts are ordered and we should be sailing again by mid December.

We have made a lot of other progress in updating Nymeria for the eventual cast off though. We finally finished all our “comfort upgrades” with new interior cushions, and a whole new Dodger/Bimini so we can sail in the cockpit without the elements.

We’ve also done a full standing and running rigging replacement, purchased a new mainsail and staysail, upgraded our sail handling/storage solution. Though, its a little tough to be excited about that as we cannot go play with it until the engine runs again.

Most importantly we continue racing and learning by sailing on other boats. In-fact we recently finished our first offshore adventure! We completed in the 2018 Harvest Moon Regatta from Galveston, to Port Aransas. I wont spoil it as I’m writing up a post about it now, but we did not sink.

It just seems we have many projects partially, or mostly done, and we will do a much better job of sharing those “adventures” as we complete them and finally get Nymeria out of the slip.
